Casting is something every actor or model is going through regularly. It seems usual or even everyday activity, but each time it can become a trampoline up or an abyss in the end of which is oblivion. Or describing it without any poetry it is a process of choosing between the candidates the one who best fits the producers’ idea in show-business. In Herman Grekov’s play the audition is performed by 4 people – secretary, producer, director and director of photography. And one person is trying to get the role. This audition becomes a social riddle and going through it can lift a man up to the “top”. Get upstairs. The question is who are producers looking for or do they even understand their task? Who is the modern hero? And what role is awaiting a person who can pass this casting?
«The protagonist of «Casting» is an aspiring actor wishing to get into a prestigious project. However before getting this job he should go through a chain of humiliation, - this is how channel «Culture» described the performance», - «Teatr.doc» as always asks harsh question: is it worth abandoning your individuality to fit the social “format”? The answer is left to the audience».
